St. Joseph's College is a university community established by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and affiliated with the University of Alberta. It is administered by the Congregation of the Priests of St. Basil, also known as the Basilian Fathers. As an affiliated College of the University of Alberta, St. Joe's teaches courses in applied ethics, philosophy, religious education and theology at the undergraduate level for credit in all degree programs with Arts options. We have specific courses in religious education for students in the Faculty of Education who intend to teach within the province's Catholic school system. Other important areas of teaching are philosophy, science and religion, bioethics, social justice, scripture, spirituality, contemporary world views, as well as sexuality and marriage. In total, twenty-nine courses in Christian theology and nine courses in philosophy are listed for credit in the Faculty of Arts.

Sports

The residence strongly promotes the benefits of sports in student life. All residents have the opportunity to participate in up to 24 different sports throughout the year. The sports coordinators usually organize a competitive team and a fun team for each sport, so that residents of all levels can participate. At St. Joe's, everyone plays sports. In fact the residence's participation in sports is so high that it has won the Campus Rec intramural cup for the last sixteen straight years.

Activities

The Campus Ministry programs at St. Joseph's College include Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), Sunday School, Sacramental Initiation, Canoe Day, and Antioch Retreat, a student-led weekend retreat.
